Scrub Bulls originate from domestic cattle that have had enough intelligence to avoided musters and bred up us completely wild stock. Wild Scrub Cattle should be regarded as dangerous game right up there with our Water Buffalo. They often inhabit thick scrub areas where it can be very difficult to locate or get a good clear shot at them. Scrub cattle can be very challenging hunt, they have incredible eyesight and will detect movement from large distances. A large mature bull may be up to 800kg (1760Lbs) and will not hesitate to charge if feeling threatened.
Most of our hunting is done spot and stalk for both Bow hunting and Rifle.Due to large areas of most of our hunting concessions it is often necessary to drive to our hunting areas and travel around them in our fully equipped 4WD vehicles. If an animal of interest is spotted from the vehicle, we will find a suitable place to leave the vehicle some distance away and take up the stalk on foot, we like to get the hunter up as close as possible. Hotspur Lodge also has some ground blinds if you would like to make use of them during your hunt. Female hunters, wives and any non- hunting partners are most welcome at Australian Outfitters, if you have any disabilities or special needs just let us know so we can tailor a hunt to suit your particular needs.
We have many hunting areas available to us around the country, depending on what your target species is, we will customise a Safari to ensure you have the best opportunities available to you. Hunting for Water Buffalo is conducted in the Northern Territory on one of several concessions we have available. International visitors will generally fly into Brisbane or Sydney and then join a connecting flight to Darwin, it is recommended that you spend at least one night in Darwin to relax and unwind if you have spent a couple of days travelling before you begin your Safari. Depending on the concession we will be hunting, we will either collect you from Darwin, or a Bus can be arranged to take you from Darwin to either Kathrine or Mataranka where we will collect you and begin your Safari. Our Australian Visitors can either fly into Darwin as above, or if you wish to take your own vehicle, we will make arrangements to meet you at an appropriate location and take you into the hunting concession.
Hunting in Western Queensland is conducted on Australian Outfitters privately owned game reserve. Here we have available to us most of the game animals Australia has to offer. Our International Visitors will catch a domestic flight to Barcaldine airport where you will be collected and taken directly to Hotspur Lodge. Our Australian visitors can fly directly to Barcaldine where you will be collected or if you choose to drive we will give you directions to the Lodge.
If time is short or you want to reduce your travel time some of our hunting locations have dirt airstrips where charter flights could be arrange directly to our hunting concessions.

Hotspur lodge has all the comforts of home, comfortable air-conditioned bedrooms, 2 separate Bathrooms, Laundry Facilities, In- Ground Swimming Pool and a fantastic entertaining area and bar. You will dine on beautifully prepared home cooked meals. Pre-dinner drinks and nibbles are always a favorite around the fireplace after a hard day in the field.
Our Northern Territory Buffalo hunts are conducted from comfortable Tented Camps. Our main concession has Solar Power, permanent showers with hot and cold water and a traditional Australian outback toilet. You will be treated to fantastic home cooked meals prepared in our purpose built mobile Kitchen. Meals will be served in our dining gazebo where you can see and hear the ocean waves crashing on the magnificent sandy beach. Please note some of our Northern Territory concessions do have enforced alcohol bans in place.

(1) All inquiries are sent directly to the guide and it is the responsibility of the guide to get back to you. Hunting Trips Australia is an advertising platform only. We are not responsible for the hunting trip providers listed on our website. Any agreements or arrangements are solely between you and the provider. Conduct your own research before engaging in any hunting trips or transactions.
(2) Guides are often out hunting in remote locations and will not have access to emails or phone reception. For this reason, sometimes they can be slow in responding. Please be patient when waiting for a response.
(3) It is not uncommon for guides to be booked out 3-6 months in advance. Please keep that in mind when requesting prospective dates.
