January to March 2026: The ultimate High Country summer experience.
Why choose between the mountains and the river? During the peak of the Victorian summer, the High Country offers a unique opportunity to combine high-energy stalking with the relaxation of alpine fishing. This 2-day/1-night package is designed for the hunter who wants to fill the freezer with venison and the pan with fresh trout.
Guided by Zane Cameron, you’ll base yourself at a central camp and strike out into the bush and the water, learning a new dual-purpose area that you can return to for years to come.
The Itinerary: Morning Stalks & Midday Casts
- The Hunt: We focus on the cool “shoulders” of the day—early morning and late evening—stalking the gullies for meat animals (hinds and spikers) to take home for the freezer.
- The Fish: During the heat of the day, we hit the crystal-clear alpine rivers. You’ll be Tenkara fly fishing—a traditional, simple, and highly effective method of fly fishing perfect for mountain streams.
This trip uses a base camp model. We walk in/return to camp each day, making it a great way to explore the terrain without carrying your full kit on your back while hunting. You are welcome to bring your own swag and sleeping gear, but we can provide a swag if needed.
Beat the summer heat and master a new area for both deer and trout. Spaces are limited for this seasonal special.
