It’s been a while in the works, but now all members have the ability to record and immortalize their hunting achievements via the Australian Hunters Club OFFICAL harvest/trophy record database!
You can access the database here, or via the members navigation bar visible at the top of the page whenever you are logged in. As you can see I’ve added in some of my own records from some of the hunts I’ve done these last few years. You can also create your first record here.
No game animal is too small to record, it doesn’t have to be a trophy. If you’re happy with it, post it! We are here to celebrate all of our members victories, experienced hunters and new hunters alike.
Given we are a national club without a fixed address it’s important that we find ways to share information between members, helping members connect in real life and celebrate together. At it’s heart, this is the core idea behind the creation of this database. It’s a tool that you can use to connect with other members. Maybe even connect and go out for a hunt together.
When you create your record a member of our team will review it within 48 hours. If you haven’t breached any of our clubs terms and conditions the record will be published and you will be sent a confirmation email.
Through the database you can do the following:
- list individual harvest reports,
- share the story of your hunt and upload images
- you can also find other members hunts
- within a record you can write a message to that member, sending this message as a request to out team.
Regarding messages, it’s important that we respect everyone’s privacy and don’t bombard members with hundreds of messages, so message’s won’t automatically be sent, but rather reviewed by a member of our team.
We also want to prevent information from being stolen or used for nefarious purposes. Each message request will be reviewed and if it’s legit, it will be forwarded on to that the member via email from the club. This will ensure that members can make up their own mind if they want to respond or not. By doing it this way all members information and privacy is protected, but we can still facilitate genuine connections.
Just a note, the database is still in it’s beta phase, so I’m sure there will be some teething issues. But that’s ok, we are committed to making it work for everyone so if you find a glitch or want to share an idea on how we can make it better head over the the contact page and submit your thoughts/ideas/glitches there.
In terms of a future development roadmap there are some additional features that are already in the pipeline. Some of these new features include:
- The ability for members to filter records based on species and state
- A dynamic map which lists the location of each record
- The ability for users to edit and delete their records after publishing them.
Finally, it’s a while off yet, but this database opens up the opportunity in the future of us to award prizes to members for either exceptional achievements or weird and wonderful animals. As we start to use this database we’ll find the best way to do this.
