Strider Expeditions

Join Strider Expeditions for a five-day guided horseback hunting expedition into New Zealand’s South Island wilderness, pursuing free-range red stag and chamois.
These hunts use horses to access remote backcountry hunting areas, allowing hunters to travel further into the wilderness while transporting camping equipment and supplies. Once in suitable hunting country, hunts are conducted primarily on foot, with nights spent camping in the backcountry.

Led by professional hunting guide and experienced horseman Jurgen Schwanecke, each expedition is tailored to the client’s riding ability, hunting experience and preferred target species. Combining traditional horseback travel with genuine Public land hunting, these expeditions offer a unique way to experience New Zealand’s spectacular mountain country.
