Get close to more deer, more often!
A well breed and trained pointer will become your most valuable hunting tool. In Australia, a deer dog refers to a dog that helps you find deer, but has no part in catching them. I have trained more than 100 dogs over the past couple of years including German Wire Haired pointers GWP’s, German Short Haired pointers GSP’s, Hungarian Vizsla’s, English pointers and Weimeraners being used for sambar.
Red Deer, Sambar Deer Training/Hunts, Chital Deer Hunting, Fallow Deer Hunting, Rusu Deer Hunting.
WHERE: We typically depart from Melbourne and head west to the hunting area.
HUNTING METHODS: Glassing from strategic positions, sit and wait/ambush, driving in 4×4 to spot and stalk, stalking through bush.
TYPICAL DAY: Wake up in the dark prior to sunrise for light breakfast, then commence hunting until mid morning. Return to have lunch break at the accommodation. Hunt evening until dark. Of course when you shoot a deer the hunt will change to deer retrieval.
