Victorian Wild Game Butchering Service Survey
Effective January 1, 2024, native timber harvesting in Victoria’s state forests will cease. Recognizing the impact this will have on local workers and aiming to bolster support for the community, particularly for local hunters, an initiative is underway to explore the feasibility of establishing a Victorian wild game butchering service.
The concept is straightforward: individuals venture into the bush to hunt wild deer, goats, or pigs, then deliver the harvested animal to a professional processing facility along with instructions detailing their desired cuts. Subsequently, after a few weeks, they return to collect their meat, vacuum-sealed and ready for storage or cooking.
Currently in the planning phase, the development of such a facility and service is seeking input from the Victorian hunting community to assess its potential value.
